One storybook, written by many people.
Next Page is a single story built one part at a time. Here is the whole game.
- 1
It starts with an opening
Someone writes the first part, a few short paragraphs that set the scene. That becomes Part 1.
- 2
Anyone writes what happens next
You add your continuation. Other people add theirs. They compete to become the next part of the book.
- 3
The community chooses canon
Readers vote on the continuations. The book's creator confirms the winner and holds one endorsement to put a thumb on the scale. If a book goes quiet, the top continuation is promoted on its own, so a story never stalls forever.
- 4
You cannot write two parts in a row
Once your part is canon, the next one is for someone else. It keeps the book a real collaboration instead of one person's monologue.
- 5
Books end when an ending wins
Any continuation can be written as an ending. If it becomes canon, the book is finished and moves to the Shelf.
- 6
Every part gets an illustration
Canon parts are illustrated in black and white. The first illustration becomes the book's cover.
- 7
Each book has a discussion
Talk about the story in the comments, kept separate from the writing itself.
